10 things to do in Amsterdam for first-time visitors

1. Soak up some culture in Museumplein, home to the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art.
2. Go on a canal cruise and get lost in the 165 canals that encircle the city.
3. Visit Anne Frank’s House. Plan ahead as tickets sell out very quickly and can be reserved online up to two months in advance.
4. Immerse yourself in Amsterdam’s park life, and picnic in the 47-acre Vondelpark.
5. Rent a bike and get cycling.
6. Have your photo taken on the iconic I amsterdam letters.
7. Wander in Jordaan.
8. Buy tulips at the Bloemenmarkt.
9. Be brave and give raw herring a try! You can buy it from one of the many herring carts across the city.
