Please see below for the press conference schedule for tomorrow, Friday, 27 July, 2018. Sessions will take place in either press conference room 1 (G106-107) or press conference room 2 (G109) as indicated below. Both press conference rooms are located on the first floor of the RAI Amsterdam, directly above the media centre.

Topic: The impact of the global gag rule (breakfast briefing)
Location: PCR2, G109
Overview: Studies released at this press conference will document the impact of the US government’s expanded Mexico City policy – also known as the “global gag rule.” Breakfast will be provided for attending media.

  • Report examining the impact of the expansion of the global gag rule on PEPFAR-funded NGOs
  • The impact of the gag rule on organizations in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe that provide HIV services that are integrated with sexual and reproductive health
  • Assessment of the gag rule’s applicability in several African countries, including analysis of an “exception” when local law requires expressly abortion counselling and referrals
  • Additional evidence of the gag rule’s impact, both now and historically, and strategies for sustaining global health progress in this environment
  • Real world examples of the effects of the gag rule on local advocates
  • An insider view from a US policymaker
